Card Patterns Sketch #4

It is time to reveal Sketch #4 over at Card Patterns. Our sponsor this week is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. The Card Patterns DT got a digital stamp to use on their card. I worked with the Luna Moth stamp which I printed on patterned paper.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Bo Bunny Alissa Letter Stickers: American Crafts Tools: Coluzzle Circle template, Marvy Uchida Scalloped Circle punch, Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Punch Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Stamps: Luna Moth by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Autumn Leaves Flourishes Other: ribbon

This morning I got the new issue of Cards Only in the mail, and it is another great issue. Truike and Miranda (and everyone else involved) did a great job on selecting so many gorgeous cards. I have many cards pubbed in this issue, and I love to see that my SIL Lisette is also pubbed in the magazine for the very first time. I love her cards and style, and it is wonderful to be part of this together.

My friend Hanneke - who also has her first pub in this issue of Cards Only - and I made quite some cards with the clear and frosted card blanks from ShortCuts for this issue. The ShortCuts products can be ordered in the USA. The cards and sheets are of very good quality, and Alicia ships very fast to the Netherlands (or any other country outside the USA). If you are interested in ordering some ShortCuts products yourself don't forget to use the 10% discount code.

Last evening I had a wonderful time with Mandy and Daniëlle. We chatted a LOT, and hardly scrapped, but it was fun. Danielle baked us chocolate cupcakes, and they were D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. Don't forget to share the recipe, Daan! We completely forgot about the time, and before we knew it, it was already past 1am. Daan and I left shortly after 1.30pm. Fortunately I live only 5 minutes (by car) away from Mandy. Thanks girls for the wonderful evening. I already look forward to meeting you again.

Enjoy your weekend! I am off to play with my new Fiskars border punches that I just received in the mail.

ShortCuts DT Projects

This week I played with my ShortCuts goodies. The clear card blanks and sheets are my favorites. Winter is not my favorite season, and I wish that spring arrives soon. To get me in the mood for spring and summer I created a bright card with the My Mind's Eye Just Dreamy papers.

Supplies: ShortCuts Clear Card Blank Patterned paper: My Mind's Eye Just Dreamy 2 Letter stickers: Doodlebug Tools: Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Punch, Sizzix Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One Button: Rusty Pickle Other: ribbon, cord

The second card is based on Valerie Salmon's Sketch 75 over at Got Sketch?. I used some scraps of Bo Bunny's Alissa collection. Beautiful papers for spring and summer cards/layouts. I used a 8.5x11" clear full sheet that I cut down to a 5x5" card.

Supplies: ShortCuts Clear Full Sheet Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Bo Bunny Alissa Tools: Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Punch, Sizzix Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One Letter stickers: Bookworks Mini ABC and Numbers Button: Rusty Pickle Other: ribbon, cord

Q & A

I have been working on a few projects, but can't share anything yet. Since there is nothing to show I thought it might be fun to do a Q & A session on my blog so you get to know me better. Are there any scrapbook or non-scrapbook related questions that you've always wanted to ask me? This is your chance! Post a question in this post, and I will answer them in a post later this week or early next week.

I {Heart} Jillibean Soup

I can't get enough of the gorgeous Jillibean Soup papers. I am so happy that I had some more scraps left to create another card. I almost ruined this card as I had problems with my sewing machine. So in the end I did the stitching by hand.

Card Patterns Sketch #3 + 2S4Y Bonus Sketch

It is Saturday, so time for a new sketch over at Card Patterns. You can find Michelle's Sketch #3 here. I used the new Grow collection by My Mind's Eye that I bought at Paper & Pictures last Wednesday. The base for this card is a clear card blank from ShortCuts. I love using the clear card blanks. They are great for sketches too. You can create a part of the sketch on the inside, and the other part on the outside. Have you already tried any of the ShortCuts products? I can tell you that once you have worked with the clear card blanks you are hooked. You can try the ShortCuts products with a 10% discount (see the coupon code on the right).

Supplies: ShortCuts Clear Card Blank Patterned paper: My Mind's Eye Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Tools: Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Punch Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: cord, ribbon

Card Patterns offers the winner of the week a Guest DT spot. The winner of week 1 is Hanneke, and she was invited to guest design for this week. You can find her take on Sketch #3 on the Card Patterns blog and her own blog. This week you have two chances to win. One winner will win a Guest DT spot, and the other will win a prize by I {heart} papers.

Last Wednesday I also bought some Kaisercraft papers. I used the new papers for the bonus sketch by Julie Campbell over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I haven't managed to make a card based on Kazan's Sketch 20 in time, but I will definitely use her sketch another time.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Kaisercraft Rustic Charm Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Button: Rusty Pickle Tools: Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Edge Punch, EK Success Retro Flower punch Large and Small, Coluzzle Circle template Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: cord, ribbon

This afternoon I went to Dolls & Decorations to say goodbye to Petra. Today was the final day of the sale. Ingen took the initiative to organize a farewell party for Petra. Many members of the messageboard made Petra a Thank You card, and we bought her a few gifts. The store is now officially closed which also means that my DT membership ends today. I had a great time as DT member for the past 2 years, and would like to thank Petra for the opportunities that she offered me.

Enjoy your weekend!

CPS Sketch 103

I was lucky to be able to work with the gorgeous Minestrone collection by Jillibean Soup for Scrapbook Magazine. I had some scraps left that I used to make this card based on Sketch 103 over at CPS. My dear friend Jane inspired me to use a circle on my card. If you are not familiar with Jane's work yet you should really check her blog. Her work is gorgeous.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup Minestrone Rub-ons: Melissa France Tools: EK Success Large Corner Punch, Coluzzle Circle Template Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: ribbon

Do you have a favorite scrapbook tool? My favorite tool is my Fiskars Paper Trimmer. Last Friday it fell from my desk and.....it broke. :( I immediately ordered a new one on eBay for a very, very reasonable price. I ♥ eBay. It had to arrive from the UK, so it took a few days, but look what I received yesterday.....

I am so glad I can work with my trimmer again.

I'll be back tomorrow with my card for the new Card Patterns sketch.

My Nephew Nick

I would like you to meet my sweet and gorgeous nephew Nick.

This picture was taken only 15 minutes after birth...

And this one was taken today...

Pictures taken by Peter

Isn't he cute? Fleur and Sanne went to see him with my mom and dad today. The girls love him very much, and can't wait to see him again. We will visit them this weekend. So glad they live very nearby.

I scrapped a lot this past week, but I can't show you anything because I submitted my layouts for possible publication in Scrapbook Magazine. I'll be back tomorrow with a card.

Welcome Nick!!

My sister-in-law Li gave birth to a little baby boy today at 5.44pm.

Nick Yù
3,460g
49cm

Nick's middle name is Chinese, and means sunlight. Li is originally from China, and they wanted to give him a Chinese name too. I love the meaning of his middle name. Peter called us at 6.45pm and we immediately went to the hospital to meet our little nephew. My parents were there too. Nick is a gorgeous baby. I can't show you any pictures yet. Of course we took some pictures, but needless to say my brother wants to be the first one to show pictures of their baby boy on the world wide web.

Since I knew they were expecting a baby boy I already made them a card.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Melissa Frances, Making Memories Poolside Paperie Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Stars die, Martha Stewart ZigZag Edge Punch Button: Rusty Pickle Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: ribbon, lace, twine, cord, chipboard

I also made Peter and Li a mini album. They only have to add pictures of their little one. I can only show you a sneak peek as the mini album was pubbed in the latest issue of Scrapbook Magazine, and I am not allowed yet to show you the complete album.

Thanks for stopping by.

ShortCuts & CPS

I am huge fan of the sketches by Card Positioning Systems, so I am excited that ShortCuts is sponsoring Card Positioning Systems' 2nd anniversary today and yesterday. The ShortCuts DT was asked to make a card based on CPS Sketch 102. Some of the CPS DT members also worked with a ShortCuts clear card blank, and they did a wonderful job. Here is my take on the CPS sketch. I cut down a ShortCuts Clear Full Sheet (8.5x11") to create a square card.

Supplies: ShortCuts Clear Sheet Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Little Yellow Bicycle Love Letters Flower: Prima Marketing Button: Buttons Galore Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Tools: Martha Stewart Scalloped Dot Edge Punch Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: ribbon, cord

My "Scrambled Saying" words:
"would" & "CPS" & "2nd"

Does this sound like abracadabra to you? Hop over to the ShortCuts blog and find out more. And also visit the blogs of Carla, Joy and Melyssa.

I'll be back tomorrow to announce the winner of my Valentine's Card Sketch Challenge. You still have till midnight today to play along. Two winners will get a ShortCuts Sampler Pack. Tomorrow I'll also reveal my own take on the Valentine's sketch, and.......my card for the new Card Patterns' sketch.

Published Layouts

Now that the new issue of Scrapbook Magazine is in store for almost two weeks I can show you the layouts that were published in issue #21.

On the Fall layouts I used pictures of Fleur and Sanne that were taken by my dear SIL Lisette while we were in the UK last October. We did a photo shoot on the day we arrived. I really like the pictures she took of Fleur and Sanne. The journaling on both pages is the same, but the design and materials are different.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Scenic Route Letter stickers: Doodlebug Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Flower Decorative Strip, QuicKutz Alphabet Diesel Classic Date stamp: Colorbök Ink: VersaColor Pinecone

Supplies: Cardstock, ribbon: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: October Afternoon, Scenic Route Letters: Making Memories Chipboard Alpha & Tiny Alphas, Doodlebug Alphabet Stickers Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Tab die, sewing machine Button: Rusty Pickle Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Transparency: Color Conspiracy Other: cord, chipboard scroll

The layout Jonne's feestje is about the birthday party of Jonne, one of Fleur's friends. The girls had a great time in the woods. It had snowed a few days before so the scenery was beautiful. I used one of the Quick Collages by Scrapbooks Etc. on this page.

Supplies: Cardstock, ribbon: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Pink Paislee Letter stickers: American Crafts Thickers Tools: QuicKutz Silhouette Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: flower, brad

Have a wonderful day!

Valentine's Card Sketch Challenge

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and I thought it would be nice to organize a challenge. You know I love making cards based on a sketch. This time I draw a sketch myself and challenge you to make a Valentine’s card based on this sketch.

Of course I made a card myself, but I can’t share it yet as my own sweet Valentine reads my blog. So I’ll leave you with a sneak peek of my card.

Will you play along? I can’t wait to see your version of my sketch. To share your card leave a direct link to your card (not a general link to your blog) using Mister Linky. Deadline is Friday February 13th at midnight. I will randomly pick 2 winners on Valentine’s Day. One will receive a ShortCuts Clear Card Blanks Sampler Pack, and the other one will receive a ShortCuts Gift Card Holder Folder Sampler Pack.

Please use the Mister Linky widget only to share your card. Any other comments can be left in the comment field....as usual.

Have a wonderful week!

CPS 100

Last evening I made this card based on Sketch 100 over at Card Positioning Systems. I thought I missed the deadline, but found out earlier this week that I was still in time to submit my card for the contest. I really enjoy making cards based on a sketch. A sketch is a great help to design your card, and not only when you lack inspiration. Besides, I love seeing how everyone interprets a sketch in a different way. No card based on the same sketch is alike. This is my take on sketch 100. Again I used the lovely Love Notes collection by Making Memories. I just can't get enough of these papers.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper, pin: Making Memories Love Notes Button: Rusty Pickle Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Tools: Martha Stewart Scalloped Dot Edge Punch, EK Success Retro Flower Large Punch Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: ribbon, cord, Jenni Bowlin Mini Bingo Card, chipboard heart

Thanks for all the sweet comments!

1 + 1 = 1 Card

Last Monday Kazan's Sketch 19 was posted over at 2 Sketches 4 You. A lovely new sketch, and of course I wanted to play along again. Yesterday a new challenge was posted on the Card-A-Licious blog. The challenge was to create a card using 3 patterned papers and orange letter stickers. I combined both challenges and created this card for my mom's sister who will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow. Using 3 different patterned papers is not a problem for me (not at all...*wink*), but I didn't have any orange letter stickers in my stash. Fortunately I have a die-cutting machine, many alphabets dies and self-adhesive cardstock so I made the letter stickers myself.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, DCWV Patterned paper: Scenic Route Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Sizzix Flower Die, Martha Stewart Scalloped Dot Edge Punch, QuicKutz Alphabet Studio Skinni Mini, sewing machine Button: Rusty Pickle Other: ribbon, twine

That's all for today. I am off to run errands before I have to pick up the girls from school.

Have a wonderful day!
