2 Sketches 4 You Card

I am a bit late today to post my DT card for 2 Sketches 4 You, but I have been very busy these days and have a crazy week ahead of me. Kazan designed a gorgeous sketch, and I had fun working on it. I used the yummy Sonoma papers by Scenic Route. I made this card for a colleague who recently lost a relative. I flipped Kazan's sketch by 180 degrees.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Scenic Route Sonoma Buttons: Rusty Pickle Tools: Cuttlebug Cut & Emboss Butterflies, Marvy Uchida Scalloped Oval Punch, sewing machine Ink: VersaColor Pinecone #171 Computer font: Lucida's Handwriting

You should really pop over to see Kazan's sketch and card, and the other DT cards. The girls are so amazingly talented and did a wonderful job on this week's sketch. If you make a card using Kazan's sketch and your card is chosen as Card of the Week you will win a kit by Created with Paper. There is also a bonus sketch this week. This time Christine made a great sketch and card.

I won't have any time to scrapbook this week as I'll be on a business trip to Berlin, Germany from Wednesday till Saturday. My parents will stay at our place for a few days as Eric was invited last Friday to attend a business meeting in Dublin and will be away from Wednesday till Friday.

Have a wonderful week!

40!

Today my sweetheart is celebrating his 40th birthday. Happy Birthday, dear! It will be a quiet day today...just the 4 of us. Yesterday we had a birthday party for family and our closest friends. As I will be turning 40 in November we decided to throw a party for the both of us. Usually I don't like celebrating my own birthday, but turning 40 is quite a milestone, isn't it? It was so nice to have everyone over at our place for a BBQ. Even Lisette and their babysitter/au pair Beth came over from England. We had a real good time and the weather was beautiful. We were so lucky! We both got really spoilt. I have no pictures to share yet as we didn't take any pictures ourselves. Lisette and my brother took pictures, but we haven't seen their pictures yet.

I made Eric a card with some new Kaisercraft paper that I bought last Friday.

Happy Birthday to Rebecca

Our niece Rebecca is turning 10 today. She is in Disneyland Paris with her family, and I am sure she will have a wonderful and magical birthday. Of course I made her a card. However, I totally forgot to take a picture of the card so I made a scan in the office which is not as nice as a real picture.

2 Sketches 4 You

A new week....a new sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. This week it is Laura's turn, and again she designed another wonderful sketch. The sketches provided by Laura and Kazan are so much fun to use. They make card making so much easier. I made a card for our friends Vera and Marcel who got a little baby girl on August 8th.
My card is not only based on Laura's sketch, but also inspired by our friends' birth announcement (at right). Actually I had in mind to send them this baby card that I created a while ago, but when I saw the birth announcement I knew that I wanted to use the Laurel patterned papers by Scenic Route.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Scenic Route Laurel Flower: Bazzill Button: Rusty Pickle Tools: Scor-it Mini, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug Cut & Emboss Butterflies, QuicKutz Studio Skinni Mini Alphabet Other: Doodlebug paperfrills, thread

I made a trifold card this time. Perhaps a bit hard to see in the picture above, so here's another picture.

I used the Scor-it Mini tool on this card. A great tool for hand-scoring papers. It just helps you creating the perfect scores. Scor-it sponsored 2 Sketches 4 You two weeks ago. If you would like to learn more about the Scor-it tool please visit the Scor-it website.

I created another card based on Laura's sketch. Actually this was my first card, but I wasn't too happy about it. I do like it, but I had something else in mind......more embellishments and so on. Now it is quite clean & simple. I made this card for my friend Hanneke who celebrated her 25th birthday yesterday.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: A2Z Essentials, Paper Salon Tools: Cuttlebug die-cut machine, Cuttlebug Cut & Emboss Butterflies, Sizzix Loopy Decorative Strip Buttons: Rusty Pickle Letters: Bookworks Mini ABC and Numbers Ink: VersaColor Pinecone #171

To see Laura's gorgeous sketch and card along with the rest of the beautiful DT cards hop on over to 2 Sketches 4 You.

A special thanks to Carla who posted a Photoshop tutorial on her blog. Now I finally know how she makes these pretty borders around her pictures. Thanks, girl!!

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week!

Limeuil, France

In the last week of our vacation we went for a picnic in Limeuil located at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers. Limeuil was only 5 miles away from our campsite, and is a beautiful French village. The girls asked us to rent a canoe, but it was a bit too chilly that day. We promised them to go back on another day. Only 2 days later the weather was much better, so - as promised - we went to Limeuil again. We booked a 4 miles trip which would take 1 hour, but of course you could also do longer distances. We were taken to La Buisson by bus, and from there we had to canoe to Limeuil. It was a very relaxed trip (although a bit wobbling from time to time - LOL!) in a beautiful environment.

After we got back in Limeuil we had lunch. When we were finished Eric went up the hill to take some pictures while the girls and I were sitting on the terrace. I really love these medieval French villages. The Dordogne is a beautiful part of France.

Next week I will post some more pictures.

We're Back Home

Just a brief post to let you know that we got back home from a 2-week vacation in France. We stayed at a camp site in the beautiful Dordogne. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that good, but we had a wonderful time. I will update my blog with some pictures later this week.

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments in the past 2 weeks. I really appreciate your sweet comments a lot.

My Sketch For 2 Sketches 4 You

Since the beginning of June Monday is my favorite day of the week, because Monday means a new sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You. This week you don't get 1 sketch, but 2 sketches. The regular sketch (#7) is designed by Kazan. The bonus sketch is designed by.....ME!!! The Design Team gets a chance to also design a sketch which will be added to the blog as a bonus sketch. You won't be able to win a prize with the bonus sketch.....it is just for FUN. I really enjoyed designing a sketch for 2 Sketches 4 You, but I can tell you I was a bit nervous to send it to Kazan and Laura. They both are great sketch designers, so mine had to be....well, you know.....good. Fortunately they liked my sketch, and I truly hope you like it too. I would love to see your card creations based on my sketch.

Here is my card based on my own sketch. I made this card for my brother Peter and his wife Li who are celebrating their 2nd anniversary today. Have a nice day, Peter and Li!

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Scenic Route Loveland, Collage Press, Tinkering Ink Flowers: Prima Marketing Tools: EllisonDesign BigShot, Sizzix Primitive Hearts die, QuicKutz Cookie Cutter Nesting Flowers, QuicKutz Alphabet Maddie Anne, Coluzzle Circle Template, sewing machine Other: crystal rhinestones, chipboard

I haven't been able to make a card based on Kazan's Sketch #7 this week as we are staying here with no scrapbook supplies. I will make a card when we get back home later this week.

Au revoir!

Another Happy Birthday Card

August is a real busy month in our families as we celebrate quite some birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Today my brother Peter is celebrating his 37th birthday. I guess I was a bit daydreaming when I created this card, because when it was almost finished I realised I adhered the papers in the wrong way. The blue border was supposed to be on the upperside of the card. At least that is what I had in mind, but I guess he doesn't notice the difference. Despite the yummy new October Afternoon papers I am not too happy about the final result. It is quite simple, but I didn't have much inspiration. I think I had too many other things on my mind when I made this card.

A Few Sneak Peeks

Today is the day that most subscribers will get the new Scrapbook Magazine in the mail. A few months ago I was asked to make some projects for the magazine. Needless to say I was thrilled with this opportunity. I made 4 layouts and they are all published in this new issue. :-) I won't be able to show you the layouts that I handed in, so for now.......I will leave you with a sneak peek of 2 of my layouts.

Enjoy your weekend!

My First 2 Sketches 4 You DT Card

It is Monday and that means.....a new sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. Today is a special day as it is the debut of the very first 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team. Pretty exciting, isn't it? Kazan and Laura's sketches are very inspirational and a real pleasure to work with. It makes card making so much easier. Their sketches never disappoint me. This week's sketch is designed by Kazan. Can you believe that it is sketch #6 already?

As soon as I received Kazan's sketch I knew immediately what paper I wanted to use and how it had to look like. And I can tell you it turned out exactly like I had in mind. I made this card for a colleague who will get married later this month. She doesn't know that I have a blog, so it is safe to already showcase the card. I love the black/white Scenic Route papers in combination with pink. It is a great combo.

12 Years of Love

Today Eric and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary. We are not married, so we always celebrate the date that we officially started dating....August 1st, 1996. Of course I had to make him a card. The card is based on the sketch that Laura Davis made for Caardvarks. It has been too long since I joined one of the Caardvarks challenges, so it was fun to play along again.
