Laura Sketch 5

Today is my part-time day so I had a little time to make a card following Laura's Sketch 5 at 2 Sketches 4 You. This time I used some Crate papers from the Polka Dot Whimsy July kit that I received last week. I think that the papers are perfect for a baby boy card, so that's what I made.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Crate Paper Ribbon: local market Embellishments: S.E.I. brad, Rusty Pickle button Rub-ons: Sassafras Lass Stamps: My Sentiments Exactly! Multi Retro Ink: VersaColor Pinecone #171 Tools: EllisonDesign BigShot, Sizzix Traditional Bookplate die, sewing machine

My first DT card for 2 Sketches 4 You is also finished, but I can't show it yet. Not even a sneak peek. Sorry, girls! You'll have to wait till Monday. I can tell you though that it is a great sketch.....as always, so don't forget to check in on the 2 Sketches 4 You blog on Monday.

I received the Blogging Friends Forever award from Marije and Wilma. Thanks, girls!! I love visiting your blog, and I appreciate you also stop by and comment on my blog.

Carla, my blogging friend and fellow DT member at 2 Sketches 4 You, made it into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Top 10. Not a real surprise to me, because Carla's cards are simply gorgeous. She has a great style, and I truly hope she will win the contest. First she has to make it into the Top 5 and I am sure she will, but......she can always use some extra votes. You can find her unique card here. If you like it as much as I do just follow the link in her blog post and vote for Carla.

Well, I am off to prepare dinner and play a game with Fleur. Enjoy your day!

Woot...Woot...another TOOOOOTTTT!!

I am sooooo thrilled!!! I submitted 2 cards for the 2 Sketches 4 You DT call and this weekend I received an e-mail from Kazan and Laura to officially invite me to the Fall DT for 2 Sketches 4 You. Wooohooo!! I guess I don't have to tell you how excited I was to find their e-mail in my inbox. I guess you all know that I am a huge fan of 2 Sketches 4 You since the very first moment, and I love to be part of the DT for 3 months. Kazan and Laura had the difficult task to pick only 6 girls out of many, many applications. I am sure it wasn't easy, but they have chosen an amazing and very talented team. The other DT members are Ashild, Carla, Joke, Lisette and Pam. I was so excited to find out that my SIL Lisette and I both got selected for the DT. How cool is that!! We didn't tell each other about our application, so it was a huge surprise. I look forward to working with all these talented ladies and to inspire you with our cards. Kazan and Laura, thank you so much for the opportunity. Here is the card that I made based on Kazan's DT sketch.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: CherryArte Ribbon: May Arts Tools: Sizzix die-cutting machine, Sizzix Paper Sculpting Daisy die, QuicKutz Alphabet Studio Skinni Mini, sewing machine Other: button, thread

The other card that got me into the DT is out for publication. I have never thought that I would ever be able to use these 3 words....out for publication.

Supplies: Digital Scrapbooking Kit Truly Blessed by Cori Gammon at Scrap Artist.

It seems that everything is happening at once now. I got selected for the fab 2 Sketches 4 You DT, and I will have my first pubs in 2 Dutch magazines. Next month I will have a few of my layouts pubbed in Scrapbook Magazine, and in September I will have some of my cards pubbed in Cards Only. I am a very down to earth person, but I must honestly admit that I am very excited about these opportunities. So a big thanks to everyone involved.

Now that I met all magazine deadlines I can scrap for me again. Of course all layouts and cards are for me, but I can't show you anything yet. Not even a sneak peek.....sorry!!

Thanks you all for your sweet comments, and talk to you soon!

Mamma Mia!

Yesterday my friend Liesbeth called me to ask me if I wanted to go with her to see the movie Mamma Mia! that evening. Of course I said yes, because I also had plans to ask her. If you like feel good movies you should really go and see this one. I LOVED IT!!!! We laughed, sang along and I even cried at the end. Yeah...I am an emotional person. ;-) I think the cast is great and perfect for the movie. I just loved listening to all the ABBA songs. They reminded me of the 70's and early 80's when I was a huge ABBA fan. I still love their music. We had a wonderful evening together.

Today it will be warm and sunny....FINALLY!! It has been too long since we had a beautiful summer day. This evening we will have 23 of my colleagues over at our home for a BBQ. One of my colleagues will leave our company at the end of the month and wanted to have a farewell BBQ which I host in our garden. So....I am happy that summer arrived just in time. LOL!

Kazan's Sketch 5

I have a confession to make....I am addicted to the sketches at 2 Sketches 4 You. As soon as I have finished my card I want it to be Monday again, so I can start on the new sketch. I know I am not the only one because by stopping by other girls' blogs I found out there are more girls addicted to 2 Sketches 4 You. LOL! Yesterday evening I made a card based on Kazan's Sketch 5. I started with different papers but got stuck as I didn't really like the papers that I had chosen. So.....I switched to October Afternoon. Their Detours and Daydream papers are so yummy! I love the pink/brown color combination.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned papers: October Afternoon Chipboard: Maya Road Fresh Chipboard Library, Heidi Swapp Chipboard Alphabet Newsprint Brown Ink: VersaColor Pinecone #171 Tools: sewing machine Other: ribbon, Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly die-cuts, Hotfix pink rhinestones, Uniball Signo white

Thanks to Carla I could use some Martha Stewart butterfly die cuts on this card. I won this gorgeous card on her blog, and along with the card she also sent me the butterflies and some other die cuts. Carla is one of the contestants in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol, and of course she would love to make it into the Top 10. She made a fabulous card for this week's monochromatic theme. If you like her card as much as I do follow the link in her post and vote for her!

Have a nice day!

School's Out For Summer

Today is the girls' last day of school. As of 3pm they have a 6-week summer break. They are happy to be off for a long period. Fleur will get new teachers next year, so we bought her current teachers Eline and Ellen a little gift. They both get tea and chocolates. I wanted to make them both a card, but Fleur asked me if she could make the cards herself. Of course I said yes. While Sanne was with her friend Elze for a play Fleur and I were scrapping together. Fleur made two Thank You cards. I helped her with stamping, setting the eyelets and tieing the ribbons, but she did all the other things including the card design. Like her mom she too loves to work with the Delightful papers by Little Yellow Bicycle. She was so happy that I let her work with my leftovers.

Since Fleur scrapped her own cards I only had to make two cards for Sanne's teachers. She will have the same teachers next year, so no farewell gifts this year but only a card.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: CherryArte Button: Rusty Pickle Tools: EK Success Whale Punch Retro Flower Large, QuicKutz Alphabet Maddie Anne, Sewing machine Other: thread

And here is a sneak peek of the card that is on its way to my SIL and BIL who will be celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary this Saturday.

Have a nice day!

My Own Sketch

It is the 15th of the month, so time for a new card sketch challenge on the Dolls & Decorations forum. I designed a sketch myself this time. The design is quite simple as I still struggle with designing sketches in Photoshop Elements 6. I wish I could make them like Becky Fleck, but I don't know how to do it and have no idea how to add any elements like flowers, scalloped borders, and so on without using a digital scrapbook kit. If anyone has a (link to a) tutorial on how to create sketches in PSE6 I would love to receive it. :)

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Making Memories Noteworthy Flowers: Prima Marketing Flowers Essentials Buttons: Rusty Pickle Ribbon: Prima Marketing Ink: VersaColor Pinecone (#171) Letters: Making Memories Tiny Alphas Brown Ledger Other: fabric scalloped border, staples

If you decide to make a card based on this sketch don't forget to leave me a comment, because I would love to see your card.

Last Friday our new dining table and 6 chairs were delivered. You can visit Eric's blog to see what it looks like.

Happy Birthday Card

I have to make quite a lot of birthday cards these days. This one is for my grandmother who will be celebrating her 96th birthday tomorrow. The girls and I will be visiting her later this week as I have to work tomorrow. Apologies for the bad picture. I finished this card around midnight yesterday, and didn't have time to take a picture early this morning. I took this picture at work, but the lighting wasn't that good.

And here is a sneak peek of a card that I will show tomorrow.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I love to read them.

Vote for Kazan Clark.....pleasssssse

I met Kazan through an international DT, and am a fan of her work and sketches ever since. One of her cards was picked by the Glitz Spy Girls and Kazan makes a chance to win $500 in Glitz products. In order to win she needs your vote. I am sure Kazan doesn't mind that I copy her blog post here on my blog.

The Glitz Design Girls have finally picked all their choices and the finalists are up! I would love your vote for my little card - which is up against some really stiff competition. You can see and vote for the card here. Glitz Designs Thank you so much for your support! I need all the help I can get to win $500 worth of product. Big Hugs and thanks Kazan

Will you please vote for Kazan?

Card of the Week

I checked the 2 Sketches 4 You blog this afternoon - just curious if they already announced a winner - and was very surprised to find out that my card (see yesterday's post) was chosen as card of the week. Wooohooo! As every week there were many gorgeous entries, and I just couldn't believe that Laura and Kazan picked my card. Thanks, girls! If you are not familiar with 2 Sketches 4 You yet you should really check their blog.

I totally forgot to mention that I received the Brillante Weblog Award from Cecilia, Hanneke, Marga, Marije, Petra and Rozella.

Who gets the "Brillante Webblog Award"? Websites and blogs, which by its currency, the issues of choice and for their designs are especially noteworthy.

Thank You, girls. I really appreciate this. Since I am a bit late posting about this award many of my favorite blogs already got an award, so I won't be passing it on. However, there is a blog that I discovered recently and would like to address to you. It is Carla's Blog, and her blog is absolutely worth a visit. Carla is a very talented card maker, and makes gorgeous layouts too. She made it into the PaperCrafts Gallery Idol Top 20, and her cards are stunnng.

Take care, and talk to you soon!

It wasn't until this afternoon that I finally had some time to make a card for Laura's Sketch 3 at 2 Sketches 4 You. Fortunately I am 8 hours ahead, so I am still in time for today's deadline. I used some Cosmo Cricket and Chatterbox papers from Polka Dot Whimsy's June kit. The colorful papers are perfect for this time of year.

TOOOOTTT! My First Pub

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Layle Koncar from Scenic Route telling me that Pinecone Press requested this layout. Needless to say I was very excited. It will be my first publication. How cool is that!!!! My layout - among others - will be featured in their upcoming book Sun, Sand Surf. So glad Layle made an exception to showcase my layout in the gallery on the Scenic Route website. :-)

Miss You

It is the 1st of the month, so time for a new card and layout sketch challenge on the Dolls & Decorations forum. I picked a sketch by Pencil Lines for the layout challenge. Unfortunately I was too busy to create a layout based on the sketch, so nothing to show you yet. I guess I will be able to show you my layout later this week.

I did create a card for the card sketch challenge though. I asked the talented Kazan Clark permission to use one of her sketches. She is not only very creative, but also a very nice and friendly person. I am glad I met her through My Sketch World. If you like Kazan's sketches as much as I do you should be checking the blog 2 Sketches 4 You. Kazan and her friend Laura Davis launched this sketch blog a month ago, and it is a great source for inspiration. So....if you are looking for inspiration to make some cards hop over to 2 Sketches 4 You.

Here is my take on the sketch. I just can't get enough of the gorgeous Delightful patterned papers by Little Yellow Bicycle. I made this card for a blog friend.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper White Patterned paper: Delightful Sharon Ann by Little Yellow Bicycle Stickers: Heidi Swapp Damask White, Pink Paislee Alphabet Stickers Button: Creative Café Tools: Fiskars Threading Water punch, EK Success Whale Punch Retro Flowers, sewing machine Pen: Uniball Signo White

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day! The weather is beautiful over here. Unfortunately I have to work today.
