Use It! Challenge 12

The new challenge on the Use It! Challenges blog was posted last Friday. This week's hostess is Patti West. She came up with the following challenge: 1) use some old chipboard 2) use buttons 3) tear some paper 4) optional: stitch and 5) have fun! I really like Patti's challenge because it contains my favorite embellishments (chipboard, buttons) and technique (sewing). The October Afternoon Weathervane papers were still on my desk, so I used them again. Here's my take on the challenge...

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: October Afternoon Weathervane Button: Buttons Galore & More Rub-ons: Pebbles Inc. Tools: sewing machine, Coluzzle circle template Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: chipboard flower, twine

There is only 1 day left till 2 Sketches 4 You's Ultimate Card Showdown. Make sure to check the 2 Sketches 4 You blog tomorrow. It will be FUN!

Card Patterns Sketch #17 - My Final DT Card

My Card Patterns DT term has come to an end. I am a bit sad to leave as it was wonderful to be part of the adventure from the very beginning. Card Patterns has become a successful card sketch blog, and Michelle does a great job. She has put a lot of effort in it. She is a wonderful person, and I am glad I met her some months ago. I am gonna miss her and the other girls, but fortunately there are blogs and e-mail, so we can stay in touch. Michelle, thanks so much for the opportunity. I enjoyed every minute of it!

Sketch #17 is my last DT card. Again The Digi Shack is our sponsor. Just like last week I used the Thank you for being you sentiment. I digged into my stash and used October Afternoon's Weathervane collection from last year. One of my favorite collections.

Card Patterns Sketch #16

This week The Digi Shack is the sponsor again at Card Patterns. So, the DT created another card with one of their digital stamps. Again I chose to use a digital sentiment stamp as I am not into coloring image stamps. I kept my card based on Sketch #16 quite simple.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Bella Boulevard Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder, EK Success Retro Flower punch Button: Rusty Pickle Digital stamp: The Digi Shack Other: ribbon, foamtape

This week's Guest Designer is Nina. Hop on over to her blog to see her gorgeous cards.

Today I went to Paper & Pictures with my mom and her friend to hand in my cards for Cards Only. Of course I couldn't leave the store without buying some papers and ribbon. I bought some new Doodlebug Design, Pebbles Inc. and Scenic Route Garden Grove papers. I {heart} the Garden Grove collection. I already ran out of a few sheets so I bought a few more.

Thank you for stopping by.

DD #55 The Men

About two weeks ago I read about DD #55 on the Dutch Dares blog. DD #55 is about letting the man in your life scrap with full access to your supplies. I immediately sent an e-mail to Eric - who was in the office that day - with a link to the challenge. He is always in for a challenge, and decided to create a card. He sometimes gives me ideas for card designs, but so far I have never executed his ideas. Now he could finally make a card based on his own ideas. I thought he would create a 4x6" or 5x5" card, but no.....he took it to a higher level and made a football shirt card using paper piecing techniques. I have been scrapbooking for 3 years now, and never tried paper piecing before. Don't you just love this card? I can tell you.....he is quite talented.

Eric really enjoyed making the card. He was quite enthusiastic, and wanted to try and scrap a layout too. He found some patterned paper scraps in my room that would go really well with the pictures, used my dies and punches, and grabbed some buttons from my stash. He used some of his own pictures that he took in our garden. One of his hobbies is gardening, and that is what this 6x12" layout is all about. I really like how he used some twine and buttons to create flowers.

Giving him full access to my scrap supplies was the hardest part of the challenge.....for me. *wink* Fortunately Eric didn't find my new October Afternoon and Scenic Route papers. He was talking about using Jillibean Soup all the time but luckily the colors didn't match his pictures. *smile*

So......what do you think of his very first card and layout? I think he did really well on this challenge.

Take care, and thanks for stopping by!

2S4Y, Use It!, Jillibean Soup and a Winner

While the girls were in school this morning I did a little scrapping. I hadn't scrapped anything since Saturday, and missed playing with all me goodies. I wanted to create a card based on Kazan's Sketch 26 over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I also checked the Use It! Challenge blog. The talented Rae Barthel started this challenge blog 2 months ago, and I really like the concept. Rae challenges us to use our ever-growing stash. We all have lots and lots of scrapbook stuff, and don't we all buy more? Even though if we don't need anything. Well, at least I do. So far, I haven't had a change to participate in the Use It! challenges, but now that Rae has extended the time frame to complete the challenge (thanks, Rae!) I have more time to play along. Use It! Challenge 9 is 1) color challenge: pink, black, white 2) accents: scallops, ribbon and bling 3) polka dots, baby! and 4) D.I.Y. aka 'do it yourself'. I used one of my favorite collections ever....Scenic Route's Laurel. My D.I.Y. item is the flower which I cut from chipboard. I added some funky circles, a button and twine to it. The card design is based on Kazan's Sketch 26.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Scenic Route Laurel Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Button: Rusty Pickle Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Daisies die, Cuttlebug Funky Circles die, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, Martha Stewart Scallop Dots edge punch Other: ribbon, foamtape, twine, chipboard

Do you know that Jillibean Soup also post sketches on their blog? The sketches are posted on Tuesday. Yesterday Soup Sketch 3 was posted, and here is my take on the sketch. Be sure to check the blog to see the gorgeous projects by Linda, Kim and Jill.

Supplies: Jillibean Soup Patterned paper: Minestrone (Chopped Tomatoes, Cannellini Beans, Olive Oil, Thin Zucchini), Journaling Sprouts: Circles Brown on Kraft Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Stars #2 die Stickers: Bookworks Mini ABC & Numbers Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: twine, foam tape

And now.....it is time to post the winner of my Gift Card Holder Challenge. All gift card holders that were created for this challenge are gorgeous. Thank you for participating! I used the random number generator to pick the winner of the ShortCuts Gift Card Holder Folders sampler pack, a clear and frosted card blank, and a $5 gift certificate to spend in the ShortCuts Online Store. The lucky winner is........

Which brings me to........Kay. Congratulations! Please e-mail me your addy, and I will send the goodies to you shortly.

Last time I had an international winner too. Since I would like to introduce the Dutch girls to the ShortCuts products too I've decided to give away another GCHF sampler pack. *smile* And the 2nd winner is..........drumroll please..........

Dora.....that's you! Please e-mail your addy too, and I will send you a pack of Gift Card Holder Folders.

That's all for now!

ShortCuts "Mother's Day" Sunday

Happy Mother's Day!

The girls surprised me this morning with their handmade gifts. Sanne made me a small table-cloth. And Fleur made a flower pot. The flower bulb in the pot is almost drowned as she watered it a bit too much. Hopefully it will survive. They also spoilt me with my favorite fragrance Jette by Jette Joop.

My mother-in-law is still in the UK with my SIL Lisette and her family, so we won't be able to visit her today. Of course I did make her a card. I used a ShortCuts frosted card blank for the card base which goes really well with the gorgeous BoBunny patterned papers.

Supplies: ShortCuts Frosted Card Blank Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: BoBunny Rub-ons: Melissa Frances Button: Rusty Pickle Tools: EK Success circle punch, Retro Flower Large punch Other: white tag, ribbon, twine

Of course I also made a card for my mom. I really struggled with her card. I tried 3 different brands of patterned papers, threw away 1 card and ended up with this one which I finished around 0.45am last night. Again I used a ShortCuts frosted card blank.

Supplies: ShortCuts Frosted Card Blank Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: Little Yellow Bicycle Button: Buttons Galore & More Flower: Prima Marketing Letters: American Crafts Thickers Tools: EK Success circle punch, corner punch Other: twine, pin

We just got back from lunch at restaurant Poelzicht in Nieuwegein. My grandma had invited us, my parents and my brother and his family for a Mother's Day lunch. The weather is beautiful today, so we sat outside for 3 hours. It was nice to be together, and we enjoyed it a lot.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

We have a special Guest Designer over at Card Patterns this week. His name is Peter van Tilburg. He is our very first male Guest Designer. Peter is an amazingly talented 20 year old boy, and his work is awesome. I have met Peter a few times in person and he is a wonderful guy. If you are not familiar with his work yet you should really hop on over to his blog Scraps from a Boy to check out his stunning work.

As usual, the card of the week winner will be invited to be our Guest Designer. The randomly picked winner will receive a great card kit by Mackenzie Mae Designs. Details and pictures of the May Card kit can be found at Card Patterns or at the Mackenzie Mae Designs blog.

Did you notice the Card Patterns Design Team call? Michelle is looking for 4 new designers. Three members of the current team have agreed to stay for another term. Although I had a wonderful time being part of this team I decided to step down from the team. The current Design Team will be on for another 3 weeks, so I won't be saying goodbye yet.

I'll be back tomorrow with my ShortCuts Sunday card. Don't forget that you still have a few days to participate in my Gift Card Holder Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Do You Want Some Soup?

Jillibean Soup that is. Being on the Jillibean Soup DT is an amazing experience. The products are gorgeous and Jill and the DT girls are all amazingly talented. I enjoy every minute of it, and it is a privilege to be part of the team. Today two of my layouts are shown on the Jillibean Soup blog.

The first one is about Sanne and her friend Finn. She and Finn have been knowing each other since they were little as they were in the same daycare center. They have been in the same class for 2 years, and if all goes well they will be for the next 6 years. This picture was taken in school in February. The photo shoot was meant for siblings, but Finn and Sanne wanted to have a picture taken together. I think this is a great keepsake about their friendship. The layout is based on Sketch 58 from Got Sketch?.

Supplies: Jillibean Soup - White Bean collection (Sliced Bacon, Great Northern Beans, Pepper to Taste), Bean Stalks Black Polka Dot, Alphabeans Black Flower: Prima Marketing Button: Autumn Leaves Tools: Fiskars Scallop Sentiment border punch, EK Success circle punch, corner punch Other: twine

The next one is about.....me. This picture was taken by Florence Bavinck in September 2007. The journaling is about me feeling uncomfortable having my picture taken. Florence did a great job, and made me felt at ease. For this layout I used my favorite Jillibean Soup collection.....Minestrone. And this one is based on Sketch 51 from Got Sketch?.

Supplies: Jillibean Soup - Minestrone collection (Chopped Tomatoes, Olive Oil, Thin Zucchini), Alphabeans Bean Brown, Bean Stalks Red Polka Dot, Bean Seeds Large "Spring Fling" seeds, Medium "Harvest" Seeds Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Brad: SEI Tools: Martha Stewart Cornice edge punch, Fiskars Lazy Days border punch Ink: VersaColor Pinecone Other: We R Memory Keepers large eyelet, Making Memories Spiral Journaling Book Noteworthy

Be sure to check out the Jillibean Soup blog for the layouts by Kimber and Jill.

Have a wonderful day!

The new October Afternoon collections are so yummy. I just had to create a card with the gorgeous papers last evening. I followed Laura's Sketch 25 over at 2 Sketches 4 You for this card. A great and fun sketch to work with. Laura and Kazan announced the new Summer DT last Monday, and again they have chosen an amazing team. These girls have a great eye for talent. I am sure the new DT will be a great source of inspiration.

Card*a*licious 21, and ShortCuts offer

It has been a while since I played along with Card*a*licious. I really like their recipe challenges, but I often am too busy to participate in all the challenges that I like. Now that I am off work for a week I have a bit more time. When I read their challenge 21 yesterday I wanted to create a card immediately, and so I did. The challenge is to use the colors brown and pink and to also include some sort of scallops. I {heart} scallops and brown and pink is always a perfect color combo. This card is inspired by Card*a*licious' DT-member Danni Reid. She often uses the Swiss Dots embossing folder, and I love her layering style.

Supplies: ShortCuts Frosted Card Blank Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper Patterned paper: The Paper Loft Slug Bug-Giggle Flowers: Prima Marketing Button: Rusty Pickle Rub-ons: Melissa Stewart Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, Martha Stewart Scallop Dots Edge Punch Other: twine, pin, ribbon

The base for this card is a ShortCuts frosted card blank. I know I've said it many times before, but the ShortCuts products are great to work with. ShortCuts Sunday

When someone asks for money or a gift card for his/her birthday or anniversary you can simply put the money or card in a blank envelope, but it is so much nicer to create an envelope or folder yourself. The ShortCuts Gift Card Holder Folders are great to use for such an occasion. For this project I used a white Gift Card Holder Folder. The frosted flower is cut from scraps of frosted full sheet. I always keep my clear and frosted scraps, because I love using them to create my own embellishments.

Supplies: ShortCuts Gift Card Holder Folder White, Frosted Full Sheet Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday Stickers: Pink Paislee Flower: Prima Marketing Brad: Making Memories Button: Buttons Galore & More Eyelets: We R Memory Keepers Tools: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Flower Power die, Crop-a-Dile, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, sewing machine Other: twine

I would like to challenge you to create your own gift card holder folder. There are many ways to create one, and I would love to see yours. Leave a direct link to your project no later than May 12th using Mister Linky below. You must put a direct link in Mister Linky. Indirectly linked projects will be removed.

I will randomly pick a winner on May 13th. The winner will receive a ShortCuts Gift Card Holder Folder Sampler Pack, a ShortCuts clear and frosted card and a $5 gift certificate to be spent in the ShortCuts Online Store.

Happy Sunday!

A new month means a new theme over at ShortCuts. April showers bring May flowers, so our theme this month is flowers. To start off the month Alicia asked the Design Team to create a card inspired by this bedding set. I didn't have any papers in these colors, so I got inspired by the design.

Do you want to win some ShortCuts goodies so you can try the fantastic products yourself? Alicia is really generous and will give away 4 prizes. The grand prize winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to the ShortCuts Online Store. More info on the other prizes can be found here.

Make sure to check the other DT creations from Carla, Joy and Melyssa.

Yesterday was a sad day in the history of Queen's Day. A 38-year old man tried to attack our Royal Family by crashing his car near the royal bus. Seven people, as well as the driver, were killed and 10 people are injured. We were watching the Queen's Day celebration on TV and saw the horrible crash 'live'. I was completely shocked. I really can't understand why the man did this. It is very tragic. Queen's Day will probably never be the same again.
