My Own Sketch

It is the 15th of the month, so time for a new card sketch challenge on the Dolls & Decorations forum. I designed a sketch myself this time. The design is quite simple as I still struggle with designing sketches in Photoshop Elements 6. I wish I could make them like Becky Fleck, but I don't know how to do it and have no idea how to add any elements like flowers, scalloped borders, and so on without using a digital scrapbook kit. If anyone has a (link to a) tutorial on how to create sketches in PSE6 I would love to receive it. :)

Card Sketches

Last Saturday the first card sketch for June was posted on My Sketch World. Again I used Scenic Route's Lynden PPs. I made this card last Saturday when we stayed with my parents in Ouddorp for the weekend. The sketch and cards by the DT can be found here.

And yesterday it was time for another card sketch on the Dolls & Decorations forum. I used one of the latest card sketches by Becky Fleck from Pagemaps. I used some girlie Sassafras Lass left overs for this card. I might send this one to one of my friends who is expecting a baby girl.

Only this time I used the Delightful collection by Little Yellow Bicycle which is a great collection, and adds a different look to the mini album.

It's a Boy

One of my colleagues gave birth to a baby boy on March 14th. Of course I wanted to make her a card. I was thinking of making her a 4x6" or a square card, but when I was at Dolls & Decorations yesterday I came up with the idea of a crown card. Petra, the owner of the store, has a new AccuCut die-cutting machine including some great dies. When I saw this crown I knew immediately I wanted to use it for the baby boy card. Don't you just love it? I had the crown cut from cardstock, but you can also use chipboard or transparencies. Petra has lots of dies to choose from and it offers great possibilities. I had cut some other shapes too, and will start working on some examples soon.

Altered tea box

I altered this tea box with goodies from the latest Dolls Good Newz Box. I usually make layouts or mini books as example for the kit, but this time I wanted to do something else. I bought a little wooden tea box and decorated it with the Sweetwater papers.

Grand Opening

Yesterday I was in Almere for the Grand Opening of Dolls & Decorations, and had a wonderful day. I did a make & take with the Quickutz Revolution in the morning, and helped in the store in the afternoon. We had BBQ for lunch which was a very nice suprise and a lottery with a HUGE first prize and many other great prizes. As always, the day was a great success. It is always so much fun to meet the Dollies that you know from the message board. I also met some new people and people I know via my blog like Joke. I took very little pictures yesterday. Unfortunately they didn't turn out well. It seems like I used the wrong camera settings. Not sure if editing in Photoshop will help. Below is a picture that Tammie took yesterday. Thanks, girl! Today is the second day of the opening, and I am sure that will be a fun day too.

My first workshop

When I got back from France I found out that I will have a workshop on October 20th. Not as a student, but as a teacher!!! Petra from Dolls & Decorations asked me to teach a workshop. My first workshop as DT member. Pretty exciting! It also makes me a little insecure. Will I be able to come up with something new and innovative? What do they expect? What would people like to learn from me? Well, I have plenty of time to think of some ideas and techniques, so I am sure I will come up with something.

Dolls Day

Today I had a fun day at Dolls & Decorations. Petra always organizes a Dolls day when the new Dolls Good Newz Box is released. Today's Dolls day was the first time with the new Design Team, and it all went very well. Everyone was very enthusiastic about the DGNB, the make & takes and the catering. And as always there were lots of delicious home-made cakes and cookies. I would like to say THANK YOU to all the Dollies who made this day very successful.

Last week had a very happy end, and this week has a great start. I made it to the Dolls & Decorations Design Team. Woooohoooo!! I am a very happy girl! I really look forward to working with Petra (owner), Monique and the other new DT-members Diana, Ceciel, Wendy and Norbiba. Congrats, girls!
