Snow, and Jillibean Soup Box

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go

We've had lots of snow this weekend, and it just started snowing again. It looks beautiful outside. I am glad we didn't have to go anywhere today, because the situation on the roads is really bad. I wonder what it will be like tomorrow morning. I have to work tomorrow, but I'll first check the news before I go out.

Eric went into town this afternoon to buy a gift for one of Fleur's friends and took some pictures in the city centre of IJsselstein.



I have been busy working on DT assignments and last minute Christmas cards. Since I don't have much to show you at the moment I'll leave you with this little box that was published in Scrapbook Magazine.

Xmas Banner

I have a Xmas banner to share with you that is up on the Jillibean Soup blog today. Grandmas Christmas Soup collection is one of my favorite Christmas collections this year. I just love the colors and patterns. I had a hard time taking a picture of this banner. It's not that difficult to take a good picture of the banner itself, but the lighting was so poor due to the bad weather. The picture doesn't do justice to the banner, but I can tell you it does look wonderful IRL.

I {heart} Jillibean Soup's Grandmas Christmas Soup Collection. The colors are wonderful, and the collection is very versatile. You can use the papers for Christmas and non-Christmas projects. Be Inspired #51, and More Jillibean Soup

Today's Be Inspired #51 Challenge on Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot is the last challenge of the Cuttlebug Birthday Palooza, so we end our birthday party with Thank You notes. I chose the same papers as I did for my centerpiece. If you have to make multiple Thank You notes for a party you want to keep the design clean and simple, and that's what I did.

Be Inspired #50 - Centerpiece

Another week has gone by so quickly. Time really flies..... It is already week 4 in our month-long celebration at Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot. This week's Be Inspired #50 Challenge is to create a centerpiece. I must honestly admit that it was quite a challenge for me to come up with something as I am not really into handmade centerpieces. When I was ordering scrapbook goodies at an online store I came across styrofoam wreaths and decided to order one. I decorated the wreath with lots of flowers. I used some of my flower dies and punches to cut flowers in various sizes. I embossed some of the flowers to add a little texture. The opening of the wreath could hold a large candle or a small vase.

School's Out For Summer

Fleur and Sanne had their last day of school today. They now have a 6 week summer break, and have to go back to school on August 24. After the summer break Fleur goes to group 5, and Sanne goes to group 3. They both said goodbye to their teachers today, and of course they wanted to bring a little gift. I was already thinking about creating something for their teachers back in May, but I ended up making something last night. I am not that great at planning. I decorated a box with petits fours, and a chocolate bar.

ShortCuts Sunday

It is Sunday, so I have some ShortCuts projects to share with you. I just love working with the clear and frosted products as they are so versatile. The full sheets are perfect for projects other than cards. My first project is a door hanger. I cut down a frosted full sheet to 9.5x21.5cm (3.75x8.5") and created a tag by cutting off the upper corners. I punched a hole using a 1.5" circle punch. I decorated the door hanger with one of my favorite brands.....October Afternoon.

Altered tea box

I altered this tea box with goodies from the latest Dolls Good Newz Box. I usually make layouts or mini books as example for the kit, but this time I wanted to do something else. I bought a little wooden tea box and decorated it with the Sweetwater papers.

Altered bottle

Lately I reorganised my scrap room and put all my Prima flowers in IKEA jars. I kept the Prima bottles and this morning I altered one of them. For now I store my crystal rhinestones in this bottle, but I might put something else in it.


Materials used: Sassafras Lass Serendipity and Rhonna Farrer French Twist papers, Prima Sprites, SEI brad, Ribbon Little Silver Hat, Rusty Pickle buttons, beads, thread, crystal rhinestones SS10 and Versacolor Pinecone ink.

Second round DT call

Today I submitted my entries for the second round of the Dolls & Decorations DT call. One assignment was to "stamp yourself silly" and the other was "freestyle all the way". What is freestyle? If you ask 100 people you will get 100 different answers. And if you read a scrap magazine or book you don't really get the answer either, because the various freestyle layouts differ a lot. My style of scrapping is more or less "free" so I created something that is close to my own style. I added a few extra elements such as felt, fabric and I used a black pen. And of course I used my sewing machine.



I altered a Maya Road tin for the stamping assignment. I stamped, but I didn't stamp myself silly. LOL! This tin goes with the mini book I made as a gift for my mom.

Take-Out Box

Not only the girls were creative today. I too made a little project. I scrapped a little take-out box to wrap up my mom´s birthday present. My mom was very pleased with the box as well as her present.
